Emberstand
I found this in the middle of our dry yard recently. Really noticed the vibrant colors. I have done some research and believe it to be a Virginia Creeper and I thought to myself that I think this is a sign from God because it’s something vivid and alive standing alone in a season of pale dormancy — it is a powerful image.
It wasn’t planted. It wasn’t cultivated. It didn’t wait for ideal conditions. It rose anyway.
Life that shows itself when everything else withdraws
Most plants go dull, brown, invisible.
This one chose crimson.
Spiritually, that can symbolize:
- Faith that glows in desolation
- Hope that doesn’t match its surroundings
- A soul that refuses to go numb just because the world is
It’s not the biggest.
It’s not the centerpiece by design.
It stands alone — not competing, not copying.
There’s something sacred about that
Not loud survival, not polished strength, just quiet undeniable presence.
Even when the season is barren, life still knows how to reveal itself.
Not everywhere. Not all at once.
But somewhere — deliberately — to remind us.
Some souls are meant to burn brightest when the landscape looks empty.
Not despite the cold — but because of it.
I’ve chosen to name it Emberstand!
